Plumbing Insurance Group is the plumbing-focused brand of The Allen Thomas Group, an independent insurance agency since 2003. We help plumbing contractors in 28 states buy coverage that fits the work they actually do.
Why a plumbing-only brand
Plumbing is one of the trickiest trades to insure well. The work happens inside finished homes and occupied buildings, behind walls and under slabs, where a small leak can turn into a large claim weeks after the job is done. Sewer and drain work brings excavation, waste and specialized equipment. Commercial work brings contracts full of insurance requirements.
A generalist agent who writes restaurants on Monday and dentists on Tuesday can miss those details. So The Allen Thomas Group built Plumbing Insurance Group: one place where plumbing contractors work with agents who focus on their trade.
Who we are
Plumbing Insurance Group is a brand of The Allen Thomas Group, an independent insurance agency founded by Joe Race in 2003 and headquartered in Akron, Ohio. The agency is licensed in 28 states under National Producer Number 7642818. You can see every state license on our licenses page.
Being independent matters. We don't work for one insurance company. How we work
We learn your shop first
Service and repair, new construction, sewer, backflow, commercial: the type of work you do changes which carriers want you and how your policy should read. We start there, not with a price.

Before you buy, we point out the exclusions and limits that matter for plumbing work, so a claim never becomes the first time you read your policy.
We plan for growth
New trucks, new hires, bigger contracts. We review your coverage as your business changes, so you're ready for the next job instead of scrambling for a certificate.
We answer fast
A licensed agent responds within one business day (requests sent on a weekend are answered the following Monday). Once you're a client, certificates of insurance on your existing coverage are available the same day. Our office hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern.
